Marcela has conceived, built, and collaborated on various cultural and documentary projects for educational organisations, cultural associations, social development programs and with companies inside and outside the creative field.

​

Her career has been primarily focused on the direction and editing of video, but she has also taken on roles such as project manager, screenwriter, researcher, and cultural manager.

 

Her projects are often motivated by a quest for reflection on issues such as gender equity, racial discrimination, and other social imbalances, as well as by her interest in dance and history. She has taken part in the making of documentaries, as well as institutional , promotional and pedagogical videos.

One of her most notable works is the documentary platform "Colombianas, una biografía colectiva" (2018), of which the initial stage was directed and written by Marcela.

​

Born in Colombia and rooted in Spain, her life and career have been enriched by experiences in various geographical locations. She has lived in Brazil and France, the latter being a country with which she has a familial connection. Her work has also been frequently influenced by her interest in Africa.

​

As a cultural manager, she was involved in the founding of 'Otro Sur' in 2014, an organization dedicated to cultural exchange among countries of the Global South. At 'Otro Sur', she served as co-director, producer, and curator for film exhibitions until 2019.

​

She speaks Spanish, French, and English fluently, and has also explored the nuances of Portuguese and German.

​

Currently, she continues to work on various projects as a social communicator, editor, and writer.
